2013, East Kalimantan have 2 international airport

SAMARINDA,  East Kalimantan Province Government target in 2013, two Airport (Airport) upgraded the status of international airport can be a big plane landed.

"The two airports are Sepinggan Airport Juwata Balikpapan and Tarakan airport which now can be landed species and Boeing 737 Boeing 747," said Governor Kaltim, Awang Faroek Ishak, in Samarinda, Wednesday.




He said that, overall Kaltim has 11 airports scattered in the district and the city as Kaltim. But Kaltim continues to improve and develop a number of airports through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Department of Transportation to add facilities and airport capacity.
He added, of the 11 airports, 10 of them still managed technical implementation unit (UPT) DG Hubud Department of Transportation and the airport is managed by State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), PT Angkasa Pura is Sepinggan Balikpapan Airport.
It is said Awang, Sepinggan Airport is the gateway Balikpapan East Kalimantan and the only airport serving domestic flights and inter-island and used for pilgrims departure flight.
